Description
Built in 1570 for the Cocchina family, the site subsequently belonged to the family of Giandomenico Tiepolo, one of Venice’s famed artists and who decorated the interior with frescoes. The palace derives its name from the banking Papadopli family who bought the site in the mid-19th century, enlarging the area with the additions of the gardens, seen on the left, and the more modern wing behind the garden.
The palace is on the Grand Canal, facing east in the San Polo district, and is opposite the Corner Contarini dei Cavalli. The Aman is regarded as the finest of the great Venetian hotels.
