Description
Spotting a pair of Rainbow Bee Eaters flitting their glorious vibrant-coloured feathers, catching bees and other insects, I was curious when one landed on the sand not that far from me. Cautiously it waited, surveying its surrounds for predators, then in a spit second it had vanished into its nesting chamber. A long ten minutes ensued and my patience was rewarded when it re-emerged to join its mate who had kept watch over the burrow the whole time. I decided to paint this scene set amongst the sand dunes so that its orange, green and turquoise feathers stand out beautifully just as they did that day during this amazing encounter.
