Description
This beautiful coloured bird is an Australian Rainbow Lorikeet. With such an array of colors you can understand why it got its name. Usually seen in lively, rowdy groups, I decided to do a painting of an individual. Putting the bird against a backdrop of palm fronds with the sunlight filtering through, catching the rainbow colours of its feathers. Sitting there on the palm frond swaying in the breeze and being unusually quiet, but not for long, soon flying back to join its happy, chirpy friends. This painting was created in soft pastel and pastel pencils for the details.
