Description
Almost easily walking past this perfectly still Eastern Water Dragon, I mistook it for a rock. I was fascinated to watch as it boldly kept absolutely still for a very long time. Keeping a very watchful eye on its surroundings for any sign of danger, in a flash it was gone running to the nearby pond to seek cover. This particular subject was a breeding male showing off its reddish orange chest and throat. They can easily change the colour of their scales for camouflage, regulating their body temperatures and even their moods. This painting is created in pastel keeping the range of colours to that of the water dragon and its environment.
