Description

Number FOUR in the “On The Box” series of still life works. I was inspired to paint this entire series by those Impressionist artists like Cezanne and Vincent. Composition or rather my own interpretation of it, was always foremost and this art features my own spin on that, along with a distant memory and a longing for the surf daze of my youth.

I often wondered what those guys would have thought of the airbrush?

Once again you catch a healthy glimpse of the Taubmans paint box, with the folds of the cloth depicting a forming wave and this was all deliberate. Texture, form, light and colour all played a definite part when I was thinking about number four. Most of all a willingness to have a lot of fun. “Let’s go surfing now, everybody’s learning how, come on a surfari with me”. Cheers
