Description

As the colour drains from the sky, the familiar route shifts into something gentler, quieter. The air cools, the houses settle, and the street becomes a place of calm transition. Returning home at the end of the day feels like stepping back into a story that has been waiting for me.

The unique architectural landscape of inner-city Brisbane shapes more than just a skyline; it serves as a physical scaffold for memory. My paintings of the colonial cottages in Paddington and Red Hill capture this profound intersection of built environment and human experience. Human episodic memory is intrinsically bound to space, encoding life events directly into the timber walls, steeply pitched gables, and corrugated iron roofs of these heritage suburbs.
