The Artist’s Mother travelled to Dornie and the Isle of Skye while holidaying in Scotland. Dornie is the Gateway to the Isle of Skye, with the Skye Bridge located nearby. The images in this painting depict a small Scottish village, with the quintessential pub (with the word Pub written on the roof!) acting as a focus for Village life. The small former fishing village of Dornie is nestled in the magnificent western Ross-shire Highlands of Scotland.
The village is located at the meeting point of Loch Duich, Loch Alsh and Loch long and only a short walking distance from the world famous Eilean Donan Castle – the most photographed castle in Scotland – if not the world!
This is an outstanding place of natural beauty, which has been captured by the Artist with her fresh use of luminous colour.
