Description
The 2024 Capras First Nations design proudly acknowledges the Darumbal people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which the Central Queensland Capras are based. It also honours the many Aboriginal tribes and diverse cultures that span across Central Queensland.
This artwork is a tribute to the resilience, courage, and community spirit of First Nations people, particularly through times of hardship. At its heart is the river system—a vital source of life and connection for all Central Queenslanders. The six rivers and tributaries depicted in blue represent the waterways that have sustained communities for thousands of years, all feeding into the mighty Tunuba (Fitzroy River) in Rockhampton.
For generations, these rivers have provided food, supported travel, and served as places of gathering and ceremony. Today, they continue to remind us of our shared responsibility—to care for Country and to care for one another.
This design also reflects the strength of our people—those who have endured droughts, floods, and the challenges that come with both. In times of struggle, support, unity, and resilience remain at the core of what it means to be part of a community—and a club.
These are values that the Capras hold close: building strong relationships, supporting each other, and standing together, especially in tough times. Through this artwork, we affirm our commitment to learning, understanding, and respecting the Country and people wherever our players travel and play.
By acknowledging the past, we honour those who came before us—and carry those lessons into a stronger, more connected future.
