This work is one of a series of works done after sketches from my high-rise apartment windows in Brisbane city. In lockdown my love of painting live 'en plein air' became 'en plein lounge'. I was you might say, an unreasonably happy lockdown dweller, sketching the ever shifting panoramas from the 53rd floor of the Meriton Infinity Tower.
Read more...This day in Brisbane a severe weather warning is issued. I sit reading in my high-rise lounge but also watching the afternoon light across the city. Near sundown a tremendous storm approaches from the south west. Great clouds gather and roll towards the city. The colours are amazing; deep purple greys mixed with the intense oranges of sunset at the horizon. I photograph to capture developments for my already sketched composition.
