Description
NUMBER TWO in the On the Box still life series. I was looking for a more “country” feel to this one. The Taubmans paint box is covered with an onion bag and the colours of the pottery and goblet play off each other nicely. There is a calm “evening” aura about this work and if you take a closer look, you will find that goblet isn’t cracked as yet. Mainly because this IS number two in the series, early on. The cheese and my Nan’s knife are directing you back into the work, as usual, preventing the art from drifting off the box.
the textures and light are expressed with colour, my airbrush knew the way and I followed.
I painted this with a good friend who visited me in my studio. A native American Shaman I had known for years. He visited the Gold Coast with his wife and I was lucky enough to have him present for this artwork. that makes this piece more than special to me. Cheers
