Best bathroom ever!!! So I painted a frog. My grandparents’ house in Goodooga, was actually several buildings. There was one with the 3 bedrooms and enclosed veranda, and small living area which wasn’t used all that much. The kitchen was another building, joined to the bedroom with a roof over the breezeway and dirt floor and a timber board to walk on to the kitchen.

The bathroom was another building, and then the thunder box dunny down the back. The bathroom was of corrugated iron, on raised concrete floor. The concrete had given away, and had come away from the wall, and the big tub was on a lean. You could see outside through the space left from the floor giving away, as well as the holes in the tin.

The only tap was very hot bore water, so if you wanted it cooler, you had to wait for it to cool, or use a bucket and put in rain water from the 44 Gallon drum outside. There was always green frogs… and I mean lots of them…. a few spiders…. I loved that bath and the smell of bore water… This painting also shows the red stones on the ground … the 11 kids and my grandparents…. and the millions of stars at night…
