The lighting in a painting I feel is so very important,especially when wanting to create a piece of art that draws attention to itself as does this one , which is quite perfect considering the title of "Budding Monarch". What royal figure doesn't have a spot light shining on them to showcase their strengths and leadership!. I love the stillness in this painting ,as if he is deep in thought but also ready to flee in a heart beat. The simplicity of the oil paint on a raw linen canvas is stunning ,conveying nothing more,or less,than the Budding Monarch in this very special moment.
