Limited Edition Reproduction of 100 Only

This canvas took a long time to finish. I’d started it back in 2013. Then it was simply the water, the sand and the pebbles. I didn’t really like it much, well I thought the pebbles were great.

So I put it aside knowing, one day, I’d come back to it.

I often find the resource and reference for my paintings in and around the home and garden. In this instance the pebbles were part of the garden landscaping outside the laundry door.

Anyway, in early 2015 I put the canvas back on the easel and let what happened, happen.

I kept the pebbles and the beach sand from the original and re-did the water adding new elements which eventually evolved into a whole renaissance for the painting. I photographed the robot and revisited the liquorice allsorts which I’d used in an earlier piece. The flowers were from the garden and the postcard image is a homage to fifties ‘Americana’.

The caption? That’s all me.

It may be difficult to read on-screen but it says – ‘HI, I’M RANDY AND I’M TRYING TO GET OVER MY VENUSTRAPHOBIA’.

And to save you looking up – Venustraphobia – it’s the medical term for the fear of beautiful women which manifests itself in breathlessness, inability to speak or think clearly, a fear of losing control or a sensation of detachment from reality.

So, nothing new here then!
