Living in the shiny times of Facebook and Instagram where our hardships are easily airbrushed and filtered away, it is easy to believe that everyone else’s lives consist of sunshine, lattes, and avocado on toast. However, like everything, the truth is less of stark ebony or pure ivory and more like a muddied charcoal grey. Yes, we have joy in our lives, but we also have our dark days where we may feel exhausted and helpless or lost and alone.
Let us take solace in the fact that we are not alone. Let us know that there are others out there who face similar disappointments, rejections, and heartbreak. Let us support each other. There may be more hardships to come. But there will also be happiness and joy. May we be so blessed to greet all of these moments, whatever their shapes and sizes may be, linked in the arms of supportive friends.
