Immerse yourself in the beauty of ‘Landscape Vintage’, a uniquely grand artwork by Meredith Howse. This expansive piece invites the viewer to step into a serene landscape, following a meandering waterway that leads toward distant, mountains. The foreground is alive with vibrant, colourful flowers. A graceful blossom tree stands to the side, its soft petals adding to the dreamlike atmosphere.

Coloured-Objects-in-a-Landscape

Limited Edition – 5 only

This image has vessels as a kick-off theme – I created coloured opalescent glass shapes assembled to imitate mountains behind a row of bone coloured body shapes/symbols (reflected in the moon shape above). The fragrant starry sky is awash in roses while the coloured mountains are held together by motorcycle parts.

Couple-in-a-Landscape

Limited Edition – 5 only

I had been studying artist anatomy and drew up body shapes.  I filled the shapes with rough lines before mirroring these shapes. I layered a couple of photos to form a background then placed a few mirrored body shapes onto the background – they looked insect-like so I kept building up shapes and played with the colours (and line angles to reference weaving) on the rich blue greeen background (which I kept changing). Finally I thought the colour mix needed a dash of yellow green in the background so I combined a few big shapes and filled them with diagonal lines before adding layers of dark graduations left and right to keep the people bugs a bit more contained.

Kalkadoon Landscape

Sid was deeply moved by the colours of the land: the jagged red rocks, the winding creeks and rivers, and the shifting light across Country. One powerful moment was visiting a water spring cared for by the Elder’s family, where stories of the land were shared—stories that brought the landscape to life.

This painting captures Sid’s first impressions—his sense of wonder, respect, and connection to Kalkadoon Country. It’s a visual memory of that journey, and a tribute to the land and its people.

Ibis and the Owl

Citrus Allsort is a joyful celebration of Brisbane’s iconic Queenslanders nestled within a lush, patchwork landscape of colour. This painting bursts with clusters of citrus-toned blossoms and dotted foliage.

A lively mix of architectural styles steps down the canvas: classic timber Queenslanders, gabled cottages and character-filled verandahs, each painted in delicious “allsort” colours that echo the sweetness of childhood lollies. Pops of citrus yellow, mandarin orange, grapefruit pink and lime green lead the eye through the painting, creating visual pathways that dance between the houses like sunlight through the suburban streets.

In the distance, the silhouette of the city rises above the Brisbane River and the treetops of New Farm Park.

Afternoon flight along the escarpment – The Bungle Bungles WA

The vibrant hues of “Along the Escarpment” invite you into a world where nature’s beauty and artistic expression intertwine. I was captivated by the essence of the Bungle Bungles, a stunning landscape known for its striking red escarpments and rich biodiversity.

As you gaze upon the image, the bold reds and purples of the escarpment contrast beautifully with the lush greens of the foreground. My choice of color evokes a sense of warmth and vitality, drawing you into the scene. I wanted to bring how I felt that day sitting there. The flight of birds, depicted in white against the vivid backdrop, adds a dynamic element, their flight symbolizing freedom and the untamed spirit of nature.

The Bungle Bungles, a UNESCO World Heritage site, are not just a geographical marvel; they are a testament to the intricate relationship between the land and its inhabitants. If, like me, you have been drawn to explore these remote outback landscapes, this artwork will remind you of the incredible experience of brilliant colour, fresh air and the glow of the eucalyptus trees against the ancient rocks, a timeless land.

Larras-Lee-Afternoon

I was searching for rocks to paint when I came across the rail cutting at Larras Lee. in regional Australia. It was late afternoon and the rockface glowed  as the sun started to set on the horizon. The light in Australia’s landscape shifts hourly and for me, it takes my breathe away. Sometimes I just sit and stare, but often, I get out the brushes and capture my amazement on paper. This afternoon was particularly inspiring and made a beautiful subject which would enhance any space.

Catching the afternoon sun

Come alive under the afternoon sun, the rocky embankment reveals ancient stories etched into the stone. my technique for painting is to allow the paint to flow loosely and freely to create a sense of light and shadow thus unveiling the intricate textures of the rock face, while the surrounding greenery adds depth and life to the scene. The colours evoke the spirit of the Australian outback, inviting you to appreciate the raw beauty of the environment. This piece serves as a striking addition to any space, bringing a touch of the natural world indoors and a reminder of those rock climbs and bush rambles. that many of us love to experience.
