Born in Tasmania and raised on the beautiful Gold Coast and also having lived and worked farms in Northern NSW I have been blessed to experience the bush and the beach.
Art has been a part of my life since my early teens and apart from a few workshops over the years, I am self-taught. I am totally mesmerised by the process of turning a blank canvas or piece of paper into a work of art!
Previously I have taught watercolour to beginners in NSW, South Australia and Queensland in art societies, schools and privately and I am currently teaching kids and adults in North Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast. It gives me such a thrill to see a beginner grasp a concept or technique and to share in their delight.
Now, with my time freed up, I am able to throw myself into my craft and passion and develop my own ‘style’ and follow my dream of becoming an accomplished artist.
Commissions are the bulk of my work at the moment, however, my long term goal is to travel this amazing country painting and teaching on our journey.
Watercolours and oils are my medium of choice – watercolour for the ‘little surprises’, effects and softness and oils for the definiteness of colour (those wonderful darks you can fall into!) and the ability to sculpt and work the oil medium.
My aim is to create a pleasing painting that makes myself and the viewer appreciate and marvel at the beauty all around us, even objects in our everyday lives which are often overlooked.
My subjects are anything that catches my eye, from the richness of our landscape to the character and charm of discarded cars.
