Kim Schubel

Kim has a background in fine arts, interior design, graphic design and art education. She works with acrylic paints and draws with prismacolor pencils, sometimes layering these mediums. 

Her art practice is largely influenced by her interest in urban sub-cultures such as; tattoo art, street art, science fiction and animation. Her work is illustrative in style and features bright colours and strong black outlining. She has always had a fascination with the natural world and often paints and draws elements of flora and fauna. Although her work tends to focus on floals, animals and skulls her interest in the unusual makes an appearance in some of her pieces; usually through the manipulation of a face/character. 

In 2013 she co-founded Schudio a textile label with her best friend which utilises her art as the subject for interior textile products. Their design studio Schudio studio is also a collective store selling a variety of handmade and Australian made products. The studio is where Kim produces her art and is based in Ipswich Queensland. Schudio has participated in many events including 3 RAW artist showcases, Pottery Barn pop ups and Etsy and Brisstyle markets. Schudio have had work featured in design galleries and retail collective spaces and the studio was featured on Channel 7's the Great South East in 2016.

Kim continues to work on her own art practice building both her creative labels - Kim can drw and Schudio.
