Having had the opportunity to live in different parts of Australia has shaped my perception. Growing up in the Queensland outback helped develop my love of colour, I am sure. Endless skies that seem to go on forever, to the grey-green of the spinifex grass and the red dirt beneath.
Then discovering the lush, green paddocks and the grazing cattle and sheep of Victoria and the rugged, wild coastline of the Great Ocean Road. And then to the tropics of North Queensland and the persistent humidity and gentle calm of the ocean. Always an artist at heart; it wasn’t until later in life that I pursued this path….
I studied at TAFE in Victoria in a small country town which had the most amazing hub of creative people! This allowed me to experiment and discover my love affair with textiles and in particular, patterns. My obsession with doodling and pattern-making then led me into creating a series painted on board. Out of this has come a unique piece of 3D hanging tiles.
Now living in Brisbane, I am keen to continue the journey, always being fuelled by my love of nature and the beauty of creation. Lots of bush walks and being outside in the garden are intrinsic to who I am as a person. Always taking the time to stop and touch the texture of bark, or to look at the changing shapes of the clouds or to admire a skeleton leaf which has decayed over time. I drink in the beauty of my surroundings. Inspired by colour and texture, I see beauty everywhere!
To combine my passion for collage and re-cycling is something I would like to explore further. Adding that something special onto a canvas is to make it extra exciting! I hope you enjoy my art as much as I do!

I received a “verbal prize” from the Mayor who was opening an art show in which I had a painting exhibited. She later told me that she would have given my abstract painting 1st prize as she liked it so much.

My first exhibited painting was not sold, but stolen off the wall! It was only small and would have fitted into a backpack.
