A translucent turquoise wave crashing onto a Gold Coast beach, capturing the light and shape of the wave, and transporting you to the beach where you get lost in the mesmerising movement. "I love sitting and watching the waves, I could lose hours just watching waves! This Gold Coast Wave series was painted from photos I took while enjoying a short but relaxing and restorative break watching the waves roll in. They are an indicator of the passing of time, but also relentless in their arrival on the beach, nothing gets in their way.
I love their persistence and their shapes and colours, each the same but subtly different. The original is painted using Windsor and Newton Artist Quality Oil paints on on 450g cotton primed canvas stretched on deep bars with gallery wrap corners. Nature and the sea are my influence along with a modern take on JMW Turner's seascapes.
