Ipswich born artist Jen Fisher, started her working career as a Registered Nurse, but now considers herself as an emerging artist. The mother of 2 realised that after a fairly bumpy few years, painting was something that she needed to do for her physical and mental health. With a high school senior art education, she knew enough basics to get started in 2017. Now residing in the leafy Brisbane suburb of The Gap, her approach to art and being creative is one of the exploration of colour and design inspired by nature. This includes experimentation with many media and processes. What began with the discovery of intuitive painting in acrylics, her practice has delved into fluid acrylic pouring and then again with a combination of the intuitive style with acrylic abstracts with trees that appear in negative space. She finds that by replicating colours in the natural environment, peace and a sense of connection to our earth are found. She is drawn to abstract images and has found that viewers see what they need to see in a calming, non-offensive way. “My aspiration as an artist is to take the viewer to another place – a place where they need to be.”
