"I was born in Brisbane and have always had a passion for art, colour, texture and creativity. I was taught privately from a young age starting in oils, studied art at school and have done a number of workshops over the years in different mediums including painting, glass and ceramics. Most of the work I have done until now has been commissioned."
Janelle’s work has been described as abstract and vibrant using very bright and pure colours. Her work involves multiple layers until she reaches a depth and complexity that represents her inner world and personality. She is a very expressive person and her paintings evolve and reflect this. For Janelle art also represents an escape from the reality of a busy life and career in nursing, which she would like to pursue full time in the future.
"Art takes me to a place where I feel alive, happy, at peace, calm and free. I work with children and young people with mental health difficulties where art is used as a safe way to express inner experiences and feelings. I have made it a priority to bring expressive arts into my workplace to connect and communicate with troubled children and teens as a stepping stone toward their recovery."
"Bursts of colour and shape help me to express the vision of myself and others. I am excited to see what my art brings to others and love that sense of fulfillment knowing that I have contributed to the overall feel of someone else’s home. "
‘Looking at your paintings I was transported by a feeling of positivity and warmth. Your art is spectacular’. Adriana
