My Papua New Guinea childhood was influenced by the sound of classical music, the smell of oil paints, painting and drawing - intrinsic to my creative life. In the early 70’s I studied commercial art at Queensland Institute of Technology (now known as Queensland College of Art).
I have travelled extensively throughout Australia and continue an ongoing love affair with the amazing light, vivid colours of the desert country and the lush tropical north. Another love is of the human form, especially in portraiture with its discovering of the character within.
In 1989 I had an exhibition in Mt. Isa in oils and batik with fellow artist, Rose Wright and from that wonderful motivation entered numerous art shows and won the Ernest Henry Memorial Art Exhibition People’s Choice.
I have always found a totality of need for expressing my creative response and expression to the environment that surrounds me and the journey of exploration into light.
