Under the guidance of many talented artists and by attending numerous workshops, Helen took up the medium of watercolours. Finding her way among other mediums she took studies in oils, encaustic and cold wax.
But she was soon smitten by the bright colours of acrylics, painted on stretched canvas. Attends a weekly group run by Don Waters, a talented Australian Artist, who gives a sound critique, and encouragement to all who attend.
Currently influenced by abstract artist Nancy Hillis’s, Studio Journal an online group of artists from around the world.
A decade previously she lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, volunteered as a guide at the “Indonesian Museum National”. Travelled extensively to remote areas of the archipelago and acted as a study tour guide. Articles and photos of these travels were published in “The Jakarta Post”, daily newspaper.
Before going to Indonesia Helen was active in the world of ceramics, teaching and exhibiting her wares. Presented a collection of Craft in Tokyo, and co-ordinated the best of Australian Crafts at World Expo. 1988. Helen has ived in Brisbane since 1970.
