Dylan Sarra

I am an indigenous artist born and raised in the Central Queensland region of Australia. My heritage is multi-cultural although it is from my grandmother Grandma Sarra (nee Broom) from Gooreng Gooreng country and an Elder of the Bunda/Broom(e) clan people, that I  strongly identify with the most. This being because of what I was exposed to from a very young age. The ideals around strong family values and a sense of spirituality and connection to the environment around us, is what I value most. This in turn is reflected in anything I create artistically.

Growing up my art and creativity was something I was always encouraged to do, although when I look back in some ways it was always my go to, as a form of therapy through difficult times. I consider myself very fortunate to have had strong and positive role models throughout my life thus far. With this I not only create the art , I also pass on what knowledge I have in the hope that I can help others to have an identity and develop skills to bring them through challenges that life throws at them.
