De Gillett Cox

De Gillett Cox – Colours of Exuberance

A painter of many original self-developed techniques, De uses acrylics and mixed media to capture the tensions between positive and negative, textured and smooth, transparent and opaque on her large, vibrant canvases. She fills her contemporary interpretations of landscape, figures and Australian native flowers with sumptuous celebration and an organic neo-futurism.

De is a multi-award-winning artist with a CV stretching back to 1994, when she was awarded the first of the 13 People’s Choice Awards she has since acquired, amongst many other prizes. A finalist in many prestigious art competitions including the Brisbane Portrait Prize and the Lethbridge 20,000, De exhibits her original works at Montville Art Gallery, where she enjoys the distinct honour of having her own room in the gallery.

Lead tutor at Arts Tree, a non-vocational art school for adults at Wynnum West, De has a strong online presence in art instruction with step-by-step workshops, a Patreon page, and a vibrant Instagram account @degillettcox.
