Description

Limited Edition Reproduction of 50 Only

My favourite beach as a child, complete with pirate-like cave.

Curved mountain chains between colliding plates of crustal rock are sometimes called “oroclines”. In eastern Australia there exists a remarkable ear-shaped “orocline”, some 400 kilometres in diameter. At the “core” of this ear-shaped “orocline” lies a block of rocks known as the Nambucca Block. Rocks of the Nambucca Block were deposited and deformed at least four times, reaching temperatures between 250 to 350 degrees Celsius.  The ear-shaped orocline and the Nambucca Block were all created between 300 and 260 million years ago.

The Nambucca Block displays some of its most spectacular rocks at Valla Beach, in the “Eye of the Orocline”.
