This drawing is inspired by original origami designed by Toshikazu Kawasaki and folded by Himanshu Agrawal. I really like this version of the origami swan – I think it captures the serenity and grace of a floating swan beautifully, without looking too complicated or cluttered with folds. I chose a version of this origami folded by Himanshu Agrawal as a reference for this piece as he used a really nice textured rice paper, and I was keen to try and capture some of that texture in my artwork.
The original of this drawing was created using Unipin 0.1 mm felt tip pen on Arches rough grain 640 gsm watercolour paper. I like to use rough grain watercolour paper for my origami works as I feel it helps my works reflect some of the roughness of the rice paper used in the original reference origami.
