A view south through Cania Gorge, Monto. As the name suggests “Southern View"" looks south down the valley of the Gorge. Southern View has a lovely composition and directional focal point. The eye is forced to follow the leading line immediately within the foreground and is drawn back to the center of the work.

Three Moon Creek rests within the tree-line to the left, before the rising structure of Mt Dowgo; while Mount Wacondee rises to the right. Southern view is painted in a much softer colour palette. This gorgeous ‘butter’ yellow describes how the grass has hayed-off, reminiscent of a Monto winter!
