Peaceful contemplation. There is something relaxing about watching horses in the evening. It was feed time at “Horse Heaven” when an old mare called” Model” caught my eye. There was something calming about observing and listening to her methodically pulling at the short green grass with an occasional swish of her tail. I watched her as she calmly waited for her feed, and I felt a sense of peace and serenity that satisfied my soul. Deeply content in the moment, she did not give me so much as a glance, her wrinkled old muzzle revealing her age the afternoon sun highlighting the lines and shape of her face. As I sat and watched this beautiful old mare, I found myself slowing down in peaceful contemplation falling in love with every wrinkle and old age bump on her beautiful old face. I could have sat there forever, drawn in as if pulled by a giant magnet feeling a deep connection with an old friend.
