This piece began with my ongoing investigation into human anatomy – so bones formed the formal core of the composition and the then-recent bush fires around Australia were on my mind and became intertwined. I wove them into a grid where intercepting shapes and watery distorted photos of seaweed merge to become the out-of-control billows of smoke. The upturned rib cage became a container for other bones in front of the burning landscape.
