Description
In the late 1970s, an Australian news crew filmed an unknown object off the East Coast of Kaikoura, New Zealand. Curiosity led the artist to produce this work some forty years later. A single frame was used to create the mediated image seen.
The inspiration for Kaikoura 1978 (dark) comes from the artist’s willingness to juxtapose colours that, traditionally, would not be placed together in proximity. Animated gas molecules within this object give rise to the vibrancy and richness of the palette.
This visualization offers a fascinating glimpse into the dynamic interaction between the object’s energy and the surrounding gas molecules, revealing a complex and intriguing phenomenon.
