Description
This painting is born from the sights and sounds of the coastal environment I call home. Black cockatoos are a frequent presence here, and they hold a unique place in the rhythm of the beach. While I wasn’t able to capture a photo of the scene I envisioned, I leaned into my artistic license to bring to life a moment that felt natural, alive, and reflective of this space. By blurring the island in the background, I sought to pull the viewer’s focus towards the bird and tree, highlighting the intricate details of the cockatoo as it feeds. The work is less about an exact moment and more about the feeling of being immersed in nature—a quiet, almost sacred experience of watching the birds in their habitat. Through this painting, I aim to invite others into that space, where time slows, and nature’s beauty speaks for itself.
