Description

This painting was inspired by my trip to Durango, Colorado, where my art is represented by Blue Rain Gallery Durango. This historic steam train was built in the 1890’s and still runs today up to Silverton (at 9,000 feet above sea level) I created the narrative composition by adding an armed guard to the scene. An interesting aside is that I used my wife’s Grandfathers shot gun as a reference. Pop Carman happened to be a steam train driver in Bundaberg Australia. The Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge trains have never been robbed however they were used in the making of the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid when they jumped from the train into the river below.
