Shannon Beale is a self-taught artist based in Western Queensland, where she lives with her young family on a working cattle and sheep property. Shannon’s work is inspired by what’s right outside her door — the animals she lives alongside, the wide open paddocks, the dust, the dry grass, and the weather that always seems to roll in fast or not at all.
Shannon works mainly in soft pastel and graphite, and is drawn to raw, honest subjects — horses, cattle, sheep, the land, and the everyday scenes that often go unnoticed. Shannon didn’t study art — “I just started drawing because I loved it, and it’s become something I’ve built into my life over time. It gives me space, keeps me steady, and lets me put something of myself into every piece”.
Her work focusses on detail, tone, and the feeling behind what she is drawing — aiming to capture real moments in a way that’s clear, honest, and true to the life she knows. Everything Shannon makes is shaped by the way she lives: simplistically, passionately and rooted in the bush.
