Was there ever a time when I didn’t actually draw?
I cannot remember but I CAN remember the time I chose this wonderful instrument to be my companion on my artistic journey. It is written and said so much but when I picked up the airbrush, way back in the Twentieth Century, I knew that I was absolutely born to use it.
“GaZ” style airbrush art showcases my individual airbrush method and can easily be identified. Stripped back and honed after many years exploring my passion, my art reflects who I am and why I consider my airbrush to be, well, a true friend.
“FREE YOUR MIND AND YOUR AIRBRUSH WILL FOLLOW”
That is my mantra and it is so very true.
If there was one person who I would credit for being my mentor that would be Frank N Lee. A legendary automotive airbrush artist of the Nineteen Seventies. I met him by chance in my hometown of Kempsey NSW, and his generosity and guidance set me on the path to where I am today.
Ahh yes, Nineteen Seventy Something? A fine decade to be a teenager and an airbrush artist, but I digress.
The Impressionists too have inspired me and as they captured light I believe nothing else can capture atmosphere and the wind itself like the airbrush.
And so I keep searching and my art is a testament to where I have been.
